Synth Haven | Time for a reboot

Recently I’ve announced that I am considering a reboot of my Spotify playlist Synth Haven.
I’ve made a decision. I am rebooting Synth Haven. I will begin that process in the course of the afternoon.

This process entails:

  • I will COMPLETELY empty the list
  • I will no longer keep tracks on the list if the placements don’t get shared by the artist
    • I have channels on a myriad of social media platforms, shares on ANY of them count (e.g. X, IG, FB, Threads, Mastodon)
    • Simple criteria: tag me so I notice, you can get my profiles in the Social Media link section here
  • I will begin repopulating the playlist by adding a couple of my own tracks and a couple of tracks by fellow Synthwave/Synthpop artists I find great (same way I started it in the first place 4 years ago) as well as with pending submissions of today

In future, I will pay closer attention to whether or not artists whose tracks get accepted to the playlist share those placements. If I see that artists do not share the placements, I will remove their tracks from the playlist and at one point or another may refuse to accept their submissions if not sharing the placements becomes a habit for them.

Playlist placements can be a huge help for indie artists. Every member of the playlist profits from the placement. The placement is free. The least thing you as an accepted artist can do is share the placement, increase the playlist’s reach. Ultimately, you’ll only help yourself.

I will also renew the playlist’s CI by replacing its image:

One thing that doesn’t change:

Once you’re on the playlist, you’re on the playlist. I am not going to begin to keep the playlist small and remove tracks after a while. I am aware that this is something a lot of playlists do. I never did that and I am not starting it now. Once you’re in, you’re in. You can of course reach out and ask me to remove your track and I’ll gladly do so. Other than that…nope, not going to change that.
